Mini Homecoming!!

Well, this past weekend was Labor Day and so I was lucky enough to have a nice 3-day weekend. My roommates had gone out of town to California for a couple of days and so I had the place to myself. AppleJack was delivered by Teasha, the lady I bought him from, on Friday evening. He was a little upset that he was all by himself, and so I slept in the barn with him to keep him company on his first official night away from "mom". I had some trouble finding a way to get Indy home, so Appy and I had 3 days to ourselves and boy did we develope a strong bond in a short amount of time. I am so in love with this little guy, it's ridiculous! Monday evening rolled around and my roommate was finally home and she gave her daughter Stacy and I permission to use the truck and trailer to go pick up little Indy. I was so excited! We get to Jackie's house (the lady I bought him from) and Stacy, Jackie, and myself proceed to try and catch poor, scared little Indy. It was obvious that this little guy has NEVER been handled and it took the 3 of us 20 minutes of chasing, leaping over brush, and jumping over fences before we finally had him cornered and I was able to grab him by the mane and put him in a headlock. Sounds rough, I know, but I promise you that I was actually very gentle with him. I didn't want to traumatize him more than he already had been up to this point. We got him over to the trailer, and since he's never been in one before he didn't know how to jump in. So, Stacy and I picked him up (yup...he's that little!) and put him into the trailer. Once we got home I opened up the back of the trailer only to find a sweaty, terrified and trembling little colt. It broke my heart to see him like that. Stacy and I did our best to just get him out of the trailer and into the barn as quickly as we could. It's been a day and a half now since I brought him home and he's already doing much better. He loves Appy and follows him everywhere. And although Appy loves him right back, he still loves me more which makes me so happy! I was worried that once I got another colt in there with him, he would pull away from me. Luckily he hasn't and he still walks over to me the minute I walk out into the paddock. =) Anyway, here are some pictures I took of the two of them last night.

Here I Go!

Well, here I go. I've decided to try out this blogging thing. I figured it would be a good way to journal/remember fun, exciting, important, and everyday events that happen in my life. The most fun for me right now is my newly found hobby of raising and training/showing miniature horses....not to be confused with ponies. These little guys are NOT considered ponies as they don't have any of the pony-qualities. Miniature horses are bred specifically to have the same characteristics and porportionments as a regular sized horse...only miniature. I had no idea just how much fun I would have with them and I am loving every minute of it!
